SYNOPSIS

Documentary about an urban planning experiment in Poundbury, England

DETAIL

This project was realized on behalf of the Architekturzentrum Wien - the Austrian museum of architecture in Vienna - and was on display at a show by Dietmar Steiner named In the End: Architecture. The aim was to convey an impression of the small town of Poundbury located in the south of England. Construction of this experiment in urban planning has been ongoing since 1993 and it was conceived by architect Léon Krier and endorsed by Prince Charles ever since.

Sounddesign was mainly focused on a documentary approach to aurally depict the emergence of the town - therefore location sound was used exclusively. Some areas are still under construction while others are already finished. Ambisonic sounddesign helps the viewer get a sense of orientation and also delivers clues about the ongoings which are hidden from view.
